Alprazolam is a drug, anxiolytic, a benzodiazepine derivative of medium duration. Alprazolam has a clear anti-anxiety effect and it is used to treat panic disorder, and different anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder (SAD) or social phobia.

The first compounds of the triazolobenzodiazepine structure were synthesized in the late 1960s by a team of specialists from the Upjohn company (USA), but at least 10 years had passed before the triazolobenzodiazepine group of tranquilizers appeared on the market.

How does Alprazolam work?

Alprazolam has anxiolytic, central muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant, sedative-hypnotic and anti-panic effects. It also has a depressing effect on the central nervous system.

Expressed anxiolytic activity is combined with a moderate hypnotic effect; Alprazolam shortens the period of falling asleep, increases the duration of sleep and reduces the number of night awakenings. How to use Alprazolam?

Alprazolam is available in the form of white, yellowish-pink or blue-blue tablets for oral administration. Color of the pills is depending on the dosage of it.

The dosage of the drug is selected individually by a psychiatrist, depending on the severity of the syndrome and individual sensitivity to the medical agent. What contraindications Alprazolam has?
